Proofreading

Proofreading is the last stage of editing. After the material is in its final format, I will correct issues, such as typos or errors in formatting.

Copy Editing

Once the manuscript has been edited for content and style, it's ready for editing at the sentence level. For a copy edit, I check the material for consistency, accuracy, and completeness. This includes correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Structural Editing

This is the first stage in the editing process, so I address the questions that should be answered before tending to the more line-by-line details. During a structural edit, I assess the content, organization, and logic of the material. You'll receive a letter that outlines my suggestions and I'll add comments within the manuscript to point to specific examples.
